I am in my senior year at Stony Brook University, double majoring in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics and Statistics. At the moment, Data Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Big Data are among my principal interests. I recently interned at a software company on Long Island, as well as a financial company in Manhattan.

What do I have planned?

I am starting this semester off by finishing up planning the second run of HackHealth, a hackathon hosted by the Women in Computer Science organization at Stony Brook University. This semester, I’ll be taking a bunch of interesting classes: Software Engineering, in which I will learn JavaScript and build a web/mobile app; Statistical Laboratory, in which I will learn R and SAS; and Intro to Visualization, in which I’ll be learning how to create interesting visualizations for data. In addition to these, I will be working on my senior thesis, the topic of which is generating poetry using natural language processing techniques.

I have been a member of WiCS for a while, and I am very passionate about my role in it. I try to do everything I can to help it be the best organization it can possibly be. As Vice President, it is my job to coordinate with companies to hold events and arrange sponsorship. Last semester I planned HackHealth, Stony Brook’s first hackathon, and I am planning an expanded second run of the hackathon again for Sept 2016.
